About the Role
Performs diagnostic and service work on commercial HVAC equipment and accessories under minimal supervision. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolve problems, and ensure complete satisfaction. Promotes products and services and works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC equipment such as chillers, split systems, package units, boilers, and ancillary components (pumps, cooling towers, etc.)
- Train and mentor other technicians
- Service VFDs, motor starters, pumps, and motors
- Troubleshoot hydronic systems, including boiler systems, low-pressure hydronic, and steam
- Work with York, Trane, and Carrier microprocessors
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and accounting of company property, vehicles, and tools
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters
- Follow standard procedures, maintain vehicle stock, and manage warranty parts
- Perform health and safety duties, including reporting unsafe conditions, using PPE, and complying with safety regulations
- Perform other similar duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with additional training and 10+ years’ experience in HVAC; technical training certification required
- All valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws (e.g., EPA and safety certifications)
- Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment
- Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment, and related accessories
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
- Ability to start up, balance airflow, align belts and pulleys, and install basic duct fittings with little to no supervision
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, and humidifiers
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Available for flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed

- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, congested areas)
- Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt
- Natural or corrected vision for close, distance, and peripheral tasks with normal depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
