Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager - Denver, CO
About the role
The Portfolio Manager role focuses on providing analysis, support, and service for the bank-wide loan portfolio as directly by the line of the business leader. This role is based in Denver, CO.
Responsibilities
- Conducts loan analysis and underwriting for CRE and Homebuilder loans, partnering with Relationship Managers in structuring credits.
- Analyzes project feasibility by completing local market research to support recommendations, evaluating rental rates, absorption, vacancy, and supply/demand fundamentals.
- Prepares comprehensive credit presentations and pre-screens, clearly presenting facts, assessing creditworthiness, and mitigating potential credit risks.
- Investigates all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, and internal files.
- Analyzes financial statements and related deal materials to recommend credit approvals, evaluate trends, conduct reviews, and report non-compliance with loan covenants.
- Maintains control of active relationships, noting payment progress, identifying developing problems, and keeping Relationship Managers informed.
- Prioritizes portfolio support needs, including the workflow management of sales efforts, MDM risk grading, and loan documentation resolution.
- Manages pipeline workflows and Salesforce priorities, processes renewals and amendments, and partners with internal team members on credit issues.
- Serves as a senior resource and primary backup for Relationship Managers, independently managing customer contact and portfolio issues while assisting with mentoring junior staff.
- Provides analysis and support for the bank-wide loan portfolio as directed by the Line of Business leader which includes handling special projects as needed.
- Stays abreast of all new credit regulations and laws to maintain compliance.
Qualifications
- Portfolio Manager III: Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of credit analysis experience, working with large commercial loans, to include CRE or other directly related underwriting experience. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements. 4+ years of direct CRE underwriting experience preferred.
- Portfolio Manager IV: Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of credit analysis experience, working with large commercial loans, to include CRE or other directly related underwriting experience. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements. 6+ years of direct CRE underwriting experience preferred.
Advanced understanding of credit analysis, risk identification, loan structuring, covenants, and commercial loan documentation. Strong working knowledge of reporting, compliance, and federal, state, and local regulatory lending requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey underwriting conclusions, questions, and actionable recommendations. Requires intermediate-advanced knowledge of Excel specifically and proficiency with standard office software. Experience with bank loan and database management systems is strongly preferred.
Pay
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $120,000 - $140,000 annually depending on job-related factors. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors such as but not limited to, level of experience, skills, expertise, location, education, and certifications.
Schedule
This position is in office. Remote or Hybrid schedule is not available.
