Commercial Real Estate Legal Assistant or Paralegal

Since its founding in 1992, Edgewood Properties has established itself as a leading real estate development and property management company headquartered in New Jersey. With ongoing construction and development plans, the company’s apartment portfolio of 6,000+ units is expected to double in the next couple of years and exceed 12,000 units within five years. Given rapid portfolio growth and ownership’s focus on developing and holding rather than selling, the firm seeks a full‑time Commercial Real Estate Legal Assistant or Paralegal to work on highly complex, monetarily significant matters at its Piscataway, NJ headquarters. This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑impact projects, take ownership of critical transactions, and collaborate with a team that values independence, expertise, and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Handling commercial loan closing checklists
• Preparing resolutions for borrowers and guarantors, affidavits of title, opinion letters, escrow letters, and organizational charts
• Communicating with lenders’ counsel and title companies
• Organizing executed loan documents
• Preparing deeds and transfer forms
• Preparing contract amendments, master deeds, bylaws, joint venture agreements, etc. (these tasks entail gathering information and preparing forms, but not reviewing documents substantively, which attorneys handle)
• Forming new entities, obtaining EINs, and preparing operating agreements

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a Real Estate Paralegal in a commercial setting
• Strong understanding of real estate law, loan documentation, and closing procedures
• Strong experience handling commercial loan closings
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Careful attention to detail and ability to support senior attorneys
