About the Role
Gould & Ratner LLP is seeking an equity Partner to join its Real Estate Practice. The ideal candidate will have significant experience representing property owners, developers, lenders, and investors in acquisitions, dispositions, sales, financings, leasing, and development of commercial real estate. This role offers the opportunity to handle all aspects of complex and sophisticated transactions for clients of all sizes and across industries. We are seeking an attorney interested in business development and being part of the Firm's overall succession plan. The position allows for a flexible work schedule with a hybrid remote/in-office presence.
Responsibilities
- Handle all aspects of complex and sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, lending, and financing.
- Manage commercial office and retail leasing matters.
- Conduct title, survey, environmental, and entity real estate due diligence.
- Lead, negotiate, manage, and close complex transactions, including drafting material agreements and documents.
- Serve as a business advisor to clients, guiding them through a full range of legal matters throughout their lifecycle.
- Engage in business development and contribute to the Firm’s succession plan.
Requirements
- 10 or more years of experience practicing commercial real estate law.
- A portable book of business is required.
- Strong experience in a variety of transactional matters, including commercial office and retail leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, development, lending, and financing.
- Experience handling title, survey, environmental, and entity real estate diligence matters.
- Additional experience in commercial lending and banking transactions (e.g., commercial real estate loans, asset-based loans, or other secured credit facilities) is a plus.
- Experience with entitlement, zoning, and tax issues related to real estate and construction transactions is preferred but not required.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail, self-directed, and ability to work efficiently on multiple matters simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence and demeanor to interact and build relationships with clients.
- Currently licensed in Colorado or Illinois, or licensed in another state with a UBE score qualifying for comity in Illinois or Colorado, eligible to waive in, or willing to sit for an upcoming IL/CO bar exam (open to relocation candidates that meet these requirements).
