Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of accounting activities for a portfolio of commercial industrial and flex properties, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions.
- Produce monthly property financial packages, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and detailed reporting for management review.
- Oversee tenant-related accounting tasks such as billing support, recovery calculations, rent roll validation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and collection follow-up.
- Monitor cash movements, operating costs, reserve balances, and financing-related reporting obligations at the property level.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and budget-versus-actual analysis by identifying trends and explaining material variances.
- Work closely with finance leadership, ownership, property managers, external management partners, and auditors to support reporting accuracy and operational alignment.
- Assist with integrating newly acquired assets into the accounting structure and establishing consistent financial processes across the portfolio.
- Help enhance workflows, refine accounting procedures, and support efforts to further develop the in-house property accounting function.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in property accounting, with commercial real estate exposure strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of monthly close processes, accrual-based accounting, general ledger activity, and property-level financial statement preparation.
- Hands-on experience with tenant billing, receivables, payables, account reconciliations, and rent roll review.
- Proficiency with property accounting platforms such as Yardi, AppFolio, or comparable systems, along with strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities in a growing business environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach with a willingness to support process improvement and operational buildout initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus but not required.
