Commercial Middle Market Team Lead
About the Role
Oversees a number of Relationship Managers to ensure adherence to corporate policy, provides credit and underwriting review as well as over-limit credit approval, and supports cross-selling efforts. Commercial Middle Market Team Leaders solicit participations in the public debt issuance of clients with "investment grade" credit ratings. Responsible for risk management by exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and following policies to drive a positive customer experience while operating within the Bank's risk appetite.
Responsibilities
- Manage the sales process in a specific geographic marketing area.
- Maintain primary relationship contact for a portfolio of existing customers.
- Identify and facilitate the cross-selling of all the bank's services.
- Ensure the overall relationship is managed to the highest profit potential for the bank.
- Identify and facilitate services to businesses that do not maintain their primary banking relationship with Fifth Third, with the goal of moving the primary relationship to Fifth Third.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Meet or exceed goals stated in the compensation plan document.
- Monitor customer performance, abilities, and industry trends to assess loan risk.
- Ensure proper reporting, documentation, and review to determine loan acceptability.
- Participate in community affairs and projects to promote the bank’s image.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback.
- Develop employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging growth opportunities.
- Build a talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning.
- Recognize and reward employees for accomplishments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 9+ years of experience in credit training and underwriting.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and demonstrated sales and negotiating experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
