Commercial Locksmith & Door Hardware Technician
Acme Lock & Door, a trusted partner for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in the Tri-State area since 1933, is seeking an experienced Commercial Locksmith & Door Hardware Technician. This role specializes in mechanical and electronic locking systems, ideal for those who enjoy solving complex hardware challenges in the field.
Responsibilities
- Work independently or as part of a team to execute project work in commercial environments.
- Install, service, and repair mechanical locking systems including:
- Mortise locks
- Cylindrical locks
- Exit devices
- Door closers
- Exit hardware
- Install and service electronic locking hardware in support of security integration projects, including:
- Electric strikes
- Electrified hinges
- Motorized latch retraction devices
- Power transfer hardware
- Other electrified door components
- Pin, rekey, and repair SFIC and LFIC cylinder systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic hardware issues and implement effective solutions.
- Diagnose door operation, alignment, and hardware functionality issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance, field service, and repairs on commercial openings and hardware.
- Read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
- Support on-demand locksmith service requests as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and materials used.
- Ensure all installations comply with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and quality standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial locksmith, door hardware, or security hardware experience.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Mortise and cylindrical locksets
- SFIC and LFIC systems
- Exit devices and panic hardware
- Door closers
- Electrified door hardware
- Commercial door hardware applications
- Experience installing and troubleshooting electronic locking systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, hardware schedules, and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with BEST, SARGENT, Corbin Russwin, Yale, Adams Rite, Medeco, Von Duprin, HES, or ASSA ABLOY products.
- Experience with automatic operators, gates, revolving doors, or master key system development.
- Familiarity with access control and security integration environments.
- OSHA certifications or construction safety training.
