Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a key operational partner to Commercial and Small Business Loan Officers by supporting the full lifecycle of commercial loans—from application through closing and post-closing servicing.
- Prepare, review, and process a wide range of loan documentation, including new originations, renewals, modifications, extensions, and payoffs, ensuring adherence to approved terms and regulatory requirements.
- Collapse Coordinate loan closings by collaborating with attorneys, title companies, insurance providers, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Execute loan transactions such as disbursements, advances, and paydowns while maintaining accurate system records and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and audit loan files, systems, and documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance throughout the loan lifecycle.
- Monitor collateral and due diligence requirements, including appraisals, insurance, tax documents, and UCC filings, ensuring all compliance standards are met.
- Track and manage tickler systems, exception reports, and required documentation to proactively resolve deficiencies.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for member and internal inquiries, delivering timely and professional service.
- Support audits and regulatory examinations by preparing documentation and addressing requests.
- Generate and maintain reports related to loan activity, portfolio performance, and compliance tracking.
- Provide operational support, training assistance, and backup coverage to ensure continuity within the lending department.
- Act as liaison with third-party loan servicers and assist with specialized functions such as Letters of Credit and credit committee documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of prior experience in commercial loan operations or commercial loan closing environment.
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a college or technical school; or related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services relating to retail and commercial account customers.
- Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal credit union compliance regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills; highly motivated and well organized; excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
