Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

About the Role

A respected Kansas City Litigation Boutique is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing and busy practice. The opportunity offers meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, courtroom and trial experience, and the chance to work closely with experienced trial lawyers on sophisticated matters from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation in state and federal courts
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
• Analyze legal issues and develop case strategy
• Take and defend depositions
• Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses
• Prepare witnesses and assist with trial presentation
• Negotiate settlements and evaluate case exposure
• Work collaboratively with attorneys across a variety of litigation matters
• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to clients

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Missouri license or ability to obtain admission promptly
• 3+ years of commercial litigation experience
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Experience drafting dispositive motions and managing discovery
• Deposition experience preferred
• Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong academic credentials
