About the role

The Commercial Lines Account Manager manages a book of insurance business with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making. This role provides professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues to ensure account retention meets or exceeds expectations. The Account Manager supports Producers in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business, and may also handle account rounding and new business development in alignment with HUB’s practices, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Makes independent decisions on books of insurance business.
  • Collaborates with Producers and HUB personnel on client service, marketing, and renewals while adhering to best practices and standard procedures.
  • Oversees preparation and implementation of transactions, correspondence, documents, and internal processing for assigned accounts.
  • Analyzes clients’ insurance objectives and compares insurance plans to determine suitability.
  • Stays informed about changes in the insurance industry and external conditions impacting clients, making recommendations as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve complex service issues requiring policy interpretation and experience-based judgment.
  • Negotiates with underwriters and carriers when necessary.
  • Troubleshoots claims and billing issues.
  • Ensures overall retention of accounts in the assigned book of business.
  • Develops new business from existing accounts and assigned leads, contributing to departmental production goals.
  • Identifies and follows up on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Manages, organizes, and conducts client meetings as needed.
  • Documents conversations with clients and carrier representatives, updating HUB computer systems and agency management systems accurately.
  • Travels on company business as required.
  • Prepares reports for management.
  • Attends industry-related continuing education training and courses.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of applicable insurance/agency experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and handle competing demands.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Relevant Insurance License per state/regional statutes (required).
