About the Role
As a Commercial Banking Sr. Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for the acquisition of new commercial banking clients and the expansion and retention of existing relationships. This role focuses on developing a commercial loan portfolio and enhancing the Bank's reputation through strategic contacts with centers of influence in our target markets. You will solicit and service prospective customers, produce a variety of commercial loans, and manage a portfolio of business relationships while seeking new accounts through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals. Expertise in deal structure, underwriting, negotiation, and managing complex credit relationships is essential.
Responsibilities
- Manage and provide services for larger, more complex commercial loan relationship clients under the Bank's loan policies and procedures.
- Identify and develop new commercial loan and deposit relationships.
- Interview clients and prospects seeking commercial loans.
- Collect and analyze financial and related data to determine general creditworthiness.
- Structure loan terms and conditions that meet the client's needs and the Bank's lending guidelines.
- Recommend approval or declination of loans within established Bank policies and inform prospective borrowers of decisions.
- Manage a commercial loan portfolio for adherence to loan terms and conditions, including timely receipt of required financial information, covenant compliance, and annual reviews.
- Review documentation and work with Bank personnel or Bank Counsel to ensure loan documentation is prepared in accordance with loan approval.
- Monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action to collect from past-due accounts.
- Drive new business development, portfolio management, credit quality, and overall relationship management of an assigned/developed portfolio of commercial customers.
- Work independently to manage and develop commercial accounts that meet the Bank's lending requirements and maximize profitability while minimizing risk.
- Source prospects and centers of influence (COIs); own the relationship as the primary point of contact for new business development focusing on acquiring profitable commercial relationships.
- Cross-sell the Bank's commercial products and services to existing customers; act in a trusted advisor role to companies, generating ideas, advice, and solutions.
- Partner and collaborate with credit professionals to produce written support for new or renewing credit exposure.
- Represent the Bank in civic and community functions to enhance its image and develop expanded business.
- Participate in joint calls with business partners to develop customer relationships and support specific product sales across business lines.
- Monitor credit quality within the existing portfolio and take action as appropriate.
- Identify and structure commercial credit transactions to ensure maximum profitability with reasonable risk.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of products and services, as well as knowledge of competitors and competitive products.
- Provide support in the development of commercial bankers, credit analysts, and other bank personnel when appropriate.
