Commercial Lender

About the role

The Commercial Lender will inherit a solid portfolio and have the opportunity to pursue larger deals and grow relationships throughout Ames and across Iowa. The position offers strong credit support and real advancement potential.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of commercial loans
• Underwrite and evaluate loan applications
• Make informed lending decisions based on financial analysis and market conditions
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and business owners
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service to clients

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial lending or credit underwriting experience
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Experience with loan documentation and compliance
• Knowledge of local and regional markets

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Professional certifications such as CFP, CLU, or CHFC preferred
• Experience with commercial lending software and systems

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
