Responsibilities

  • Develop and negotiate business plans for each assigned program, including plans for new business, renewal rate management, and expected retentions to position the division to achieve profit objectives.
  • Conduct additional file reviews as needed to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Participate in Underwriting Quality Reviews and chair Stewardship meetings for assigned Programs.
  • Identify and market new products to round out existing portfolios and incrementally enhance the portfolio of products afforded to our clients.
  • Monitor renewals, rate targets vs. achieved, retentions, trends, lost business, etc. on a monthly basis to assure achievement of business plan and profitability targets.
  • Understand each assigned program: the industries and their exposures to loss, update program 'eligibility' and coverages afforded as needed to minimize adverse exposures to unanticipated loss.
  • Actively identify training opportunities at the PA level to enhance their LOB knowledge and successfully guide Program Administrators in their execution on risk selection, pricing, coverage terms and conditions in a manner that is aligned with authorities granted by AIG.
  • Manage the authority delegated by the PA to the underwriters assigned to our program(s), oversee and monitor PA 'peers review' process, and develop a strong working knowledge of AIG operating systems (rating and policy issuance) at the PA level.
  • Minimize AAL for each program, develop line of business expertise for assigned Program(s), identify trends in the program profiles, communicate & implement appropriate measures by LOB in order to protect the portfolio and AIG from adverse exposures, and demonstrate an understanding of industry changes and potential impact by making clearly articulated recommendations for actions during the account referral process.
  • Ensure Program Administrator is meeting AIG's underwriting expectations and is aligned with program business plans through the execution and management of their underwriting authority including the participation in file reviews, UQR Audits, and Stewardship meetings.
  • Participate in insurance & industry specific association training/meetings to enhance knowledge by class of business to stay current with industry specific market trends as it pertains to assigned Program(s).
  • Collaborate with Actuarial, Accounting, Claims, Operations, Program Development, Risk Management and Underwriting as necessary to oversee the implementation of new business programs assigned to you, including coordination with Operations, IT and other functional support areas.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge, market intelligence and competitor analysis through regular communication with assigned Program Administrator(s) and participation in external conferences, trade shows, etc.
  • Develop & provide superior customer service and maintain strong working relationships with Program Administrator(s) to sustain portfolio profitability through regular on-site visits, conference calls, etc.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of Commercial Underwriting Experience focused on Multi Line Package portfolio management.
  • Ability to manage by influence demonstrating strong communication, relationship management, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency on AIG policy rating/issuance platforms (i.e. Cover-All).
  • Working knowledge of ISO, Admitted and Non Admitted product execution.
  • Proven understanding of manuscript, admitted form language and policy coverage analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work with analytical tools, reports and technology.
  • Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented, proven creative problem solver.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel – 30%

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of commercial underwriting experience focused on multi-line package portfolio management.
  • Skills: Strong communication, relationship management, organizational, and analytical skills; proficiency on AIG policy rating/issuance platforms; working knowledge of ISO, Admitted and Non Admitted product execution; proven understanding of manuscript, admitted form language and policy coverage analysis; demonstrated ability to understand and work with analytical tools, reports and technology; ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environments; highly motivated and results-oriented, proven creative problem solver; very strong verbal and written communication skills; travel – 30%.
