About the role
Texas AirSystems seeks an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician. This role involves performing electrical and mechanical inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure peak performance. The position also includes preventative maintenance, interpreting engineering drawings, representing the company, and submitting required paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Performs electrical and mechanical inspection and maintenance on equipment to ensure peak performance
- Performs specific preventative maintenance including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment
- Uses experience and technical skills with preventive maintenance and system operations to determine service requirements
- Interprets engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s)
- Represents the company in a positive manner to other trades, contractors, and owners
- Advises owner/representative of preventive maintenance inspections performed and corrective actions to be taken
- Suggests additional services that are beneficial to the customer
- Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Sets up required paperwork to Service Coordinator in a timely manner
- Maintains a safe work environment on a daily basis and ensures all safety measures are taken at all times
- Works overtime/weekends as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus 5+ years’ experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand-held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
- Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)
- Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
- Able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties

- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
