About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Area Service Manager and is based in Schertz, TX. The role is ideal for an energetic, customer-service-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to make a real impact.
Responsibilities
- Performs electrical and mechanical inspection and maintenance on equipment to ensure peak performance
- Conducts specific preventative maintenance including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment
- Uses experience and technical skills to determine service requirements through preventive maintenance and system operations
- Interprets engineering drawings related to layout, location, and operation of HVAC systems
- Represents the company positively to other trades, contractors, and owners
- Advises owners/representatives on preventive maintenance inspections and corrective actions
- Suggests additional beneficial services to customers
- Works in a team-based environment to share information, workload, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Submits required paperwork to the Service Coordinator in a timely manner
- Works safely daily, ensuring all safety measures are followed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training
- 5+ years of experience as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., Smartphone, iPad)
- Electrical knowledge required; EPA Certification preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer)
- Ability to work in diverse conditions, including mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), and climbing/working at elevated heights
- Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds; frequently lift/move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple duties
Skills & Abilities
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; write correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mental Stamina: Capacity for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Environmental & Physical Demands
- Required to work in a field environment at multiple customer sites daily.
- Regularly uses hands to operate computer keyboards and reach with hands/arms.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
- Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
