About the role
This role is unique because it combines hands-on HVAC/R maintenance with system troubleshooting and diagnostics, all within predictable commercial kitchen environments. The position offers opportunities for growth into facilities or regional leadership roles, and provides independent problem-solving with a supportive network of engineers and technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC/R systems (WIC/R, RTUs, exhaust fans, hoods, make-up air units, DOAS systems)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues across multiple sites
- Support refrigeration and kitchen ventilation systems
- Conduct site inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
- Handle basic electrical and plumbing maintenance as needed
- Cook with external vendors for specialized repairs and warranty work
- Use Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor performance and diagnose issues
- Provide remote troubleshooting support to onsite teams and vendors
- Review reports (startup, testing, balancing) to verify system performance
- Assist with new facility openings by verifying installation and system functionality
- Identify issues early and coordinate corrective actions
Requirements
- 4+ years of commercial HVAC/R experience
- Experience working with rooftop units, ventilation systems, or refrigeration (WIC/F)
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites locally
Preferred
- HVAC Universal certification (EPA, trade school, or equivalent)
- Experience in restaurants, hospitality, or multi-site facilities
- Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems

Schedule
Field-based role across the Greater New York area. Local travel between sites (home daily), Monday–Friday schedule with on-call rotation and overtime opportunities.
