About the Role

As a Commercial HVAC Estimator, you will serve as the main procurement contact for your assigned branch office, partnering directly with our HVAC Controls Sales Organization to develop accurate installation cost models for our projects. You will lead the development of installation costing and the identification and selection of 3rd party subcontractors through supplier development, contract management, supplier relationships, price negotiations, working capital optimization, and improved communication between central procurement teams and branch offices.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sales during the project development phase to own subcontractor installation pricing.
  • Determine subcontractor strategy by reviewing the total project scope of work, qualifying, and clarifying subcontractor requirements.
  • Utilize estimating tools to develop baseline subcontractor installation pricing.
  • Source all 3rd party subcontractor quotes.
  • Review customer documents to ensure adequate provisions are in Johnson Controls contracts for subcontractors.
  • Develop, host, and review all RFPs (Request for Proposals).
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Coordinate all operational procurement activities, ensuring compliance with BOS procedures and DoA (Delegation of Authority) requirements.
  • Implement supply chain strategies to deliver efficient methods for branch offices to procure subcontract labor.

Requirements

  • Electrical industry equivalent experience or a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in building systems or operational processes.
  • 5-8+ years as a project manager with estimating experience in the HVAC Controls construction or trades industry.
  • Procurement experience with a focus on construction and/or HVAC equipment and services, including cost analysis and strong financial knowledge.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • HVAC industry, electrical industry, or installation knowledge (e.g., Electrical Supervisor, Electrician, Estimator) is a plus.

Travel

10% overnight travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in design-build construction and HVAC highly preferred.
