Commercial HVAC Estimator

Flow Building Solutions is looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Estimator to join our growing commercial mechanical team in Atlanta, GA or Cartersville, GA. This full-time, Monday-Friday position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of a respected commercial mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

About the role

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects by reviewing construction drawings, project specifications, and bid documents. Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs, develop project budgets, solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing, prepare customer proposals, and ensure estimates accurately reflect project scope and company objectives.

Work closely with project managers, vendors, suppliers, and company leadership throughout the estimating process while supporting awarded projects through submittals, requests for information (RFIs), procurement coordination, job cost tracking, and project documentation. This position is primarily office-based but includes occasional visits to project sites for pre-bid meetings, field verification, and coordination with customers and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, project specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate and competitive estimates
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs
• Develop project budgets
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Prepare customer proposals
• Ensure estimates accurately reflect project scope and company objectives
• Collaborate with project managers, vendors, suppliers, and company leadership throughout the estimating process
• Support awarded projects through submittals, RFIs, procurement coordination, job cost tracking, and project documentation
• Occasional site visits for pre-bid meetings, field verification, and coordination with customers and project teams

Requirements

• At least five years of commercial HVAC or mechanical estimating experience
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems, construction practices, labor productivity, material costs, and competitive bidding strategies
• Experience reading construction drawings, interpreting specifications, performing digital takeoffs, and preparing detailed project estimates
• Familiarity with estimating software such as FastEST, QuoteSoft, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
• Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to build productive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, project managers, and customers
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting projects through preconstruction, procurement, subcontractor buyout, scheduling, project coordination, or job cost tracking
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required for candidates with significant industry experience)

Pay

$32.00-$40.00 per hour based on experience
