About the role
The Commercial Excellence Manager will help drive commercial performance across a diverse B2B industrial business portfolio. This role combines sales operations, business intelligence, CRM strategy, forecasting, automation, and commercial analytics to improve sales execution and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple concurrent projects focused on improving, upgrading, and optimizing commercial and sales processes to increase efficiency, strengthen execution, and enhance the customer experience.
- Maintain the architecture, performance, and data governance of business intelligence solutions, including Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards and scorecards covering orders, sales, backlog, forecast accuracy, pipeline health, quote activity, price realization, margin performance, and key growth initiatives.
- Establish and continuously improve sales, order, and demand forecasting processes using business intelligence tools, CRM data, and cross-functional business input.
- Lead customer segmentation, account prioritization, and commercial analytics initiatives to support resource allocation, growth planning, and strategic account management.
- Serve as the primary CRM strategy and adoption champion, supporting system design, implementation, training, data quality, reporting, administration, and ongoing improvements.
- Implement and support CRM configuration changes, including workflows, approval processes, field modifications, dashboards, reporting views, and user adoption initiatives.
- Establish win/loss reporting and competitive intelligence processes to improve sales pursuit effectiveness and commercial decision-making.
- Manage new product introduction opportunity tracking from concept through start of production and revenue realization.
- Support pricing strategy, margin analytics, and quote-to-order process optimization.
- Lead the development of commercial automation initiatives, including lead routing, customer-facing tools, and quote-to-order enhancements.
- Drive AI, automation, and digital transformation initiatives that improve sales productivity, reporting efficiency, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities.
- Build strong relationships with business leadership and cross-functional teams to align commercial initiatives with strategic priorities and business goals.
- Apply data-driven insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, scalable processes, and greater commercial efficiency.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in sales operations, sales, marketing, finance, analytics, or another related commercial function.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment while managing multiple priorities and making timely, strategically aligned decisions.
- Strong proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce, Power BI, and sales reporting tools, preferably including prior administrator or super-user experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, OneNote, and SharePoint.
- Experience using AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve process efficiency, automate reporting, analyze data, and increase sales productivity.
- Ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to audiences across sales, operations, finance, and business leadership.
- Strong interpersonal, project management, communication, analytical, and motivational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to build scalable processes and identify operational efficiencies.
- Understanding of common commercial practices and the ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities across sales, reporting, forecasting, and order management.
- Experience in instrumentation, industrial controls, heavy-duty or commercial vehicles, mobile machinery, construction, food equipment, or similar B2B industrial markets is preferred.
- Experience with Oracle ERP software is preferred.
- Experience supporting long-cycle sales processes, OEM customers, custom-engineered solutions, forecasting, quoting, and cross-functional commercial execution is preferred.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to identify appropriate AI use cases, critically evaluate AI-generated outputs, and apply AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
