About the role

Our instructors are essential members of the teaching team, responsible for facilitating student learning and shaping their future in the industry. They guide students through practical, hands-on applications of lessons, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate students by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and sensitivity to their concerns.
  • Instruct and lead students through practical applications of lessons, adjusting teaching style to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades, providing guidance on attendance, grades, and disciplinary issues.
  • Create and maintain a safe environment, managing tools and equipment, and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Communicate and support school policies, enforce them consistently, and advise students accordingly.
  • Create and maintain a safe testing environment during exams.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, evaluate, inspect, order parts, and repair as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Instructor Training and Development program.
  • Teach new instructors on classroom and lab management, order supplies, and conduct monthly inspections.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the safety program, monitor its execution, and report violations.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to new instructors, participate in peer reviews, and assist in the selection of new hires.
  • Assume temporary assistant instructor roles as necessary, especially in laboratory settings.
  • Facilitate maintenance of the learning environment, including classroom and lab inspections, reporting non-working equipment, and assisting with repairs.
  • Provide short-term tutoring assistance to students and consult with the Lead Instructor/Director of Training for more extensive tutoring needs.
  • Assist in curriculum development, including topic research, text material acquisition, lesson plan development, test writing, etc.
  • Handle personnel and student issues, referring them to the Lead Instructor/Director of Training when necessary.
  • Assume the duties of the Lead Instructor/Director of Training in the absence of the regular leader.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED, and the minimum required years of field experience, dependent upon the region. Physical demands include standing for long periods, using calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
