Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment to provide pickup service of containers filled with waste or recyclable materials (containers may weigh in excess of 1000 pounds).
  • Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity.
  • Navigate high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots; perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with LRS safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations, service-related issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage to Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager.
  • Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  • Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on service list.
  • Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed.
  • Position and return containers on the customer’s property ensuring lids are properly replaced, doors are closed and secured, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end of day documentation and check out process.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Perform other job duties as required.

Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain prior to hire.
  • Must not have any DUI’s or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

Skills

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay

$27/hr DOE
