Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment.
  • Provide pickup service of containers filled with waste or recyclable materials.
  • Maneuver wheeled containers to a pickup stage area.
  • Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity.
  • Navigate high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.
  • Improve route efficiencies and identify best practices with Route Manager.
  • Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  • Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement.
  • Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on the service list.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed.
  • Position and return containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced.
  • Ensure doors are closed and secured and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end of day documentation and check out process.
  • Perform other job duties as required and assist other drivers as directed.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • A valid Class B CDL.
  • A valid DOT medical card or obtain one prior to hire.
  • No more than 3 DUI’s or OVI’s within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • No more than 2 license suspensions within the last 2 years.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

  • Physical stamina for lifting and maneuvering heavy containers.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to transportation and waste management.

  • $18 - $22 per hour based on experience.
