Commercial Door Systems Technician

Position Summary

Inspect, install, and repair commercial door systems according to applicable NFPA and IBC/IFC code requirements. Assist the jobsite foreman with all physical aspects of each project including verbal communications with customers as needed. Work independently when required.

Requirements

• Experience with installing and servicing commercial doors and door hardware.
• Familiarity with automatic door systems and access control is a plus but not required.
• Experience in carpentry, framing, and drywall installation.
• General building practice and commercial construction knowledge.
• Experience with both powered and hand tools.
• Strong mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to navigate construction documents and code books (NFPA/IBC/IFC).
• Able to use computers, tablets, and other technology efficiently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus but not required.
• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
• Must be able to communicate respectfully and professionally with fellow workers, other MEP tradesmen, inspectors, customers, and the public.
• Properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license.
