Commercial Development Manager
About the role
As a Business Partner for the Central Sales & Marketing team, VP S&M, and AFNA commercial teams, this role drives delivery of the business plan for select customers and projects within the Central S&M segment. This leader partners to deliver growth, a positive commercial bridge, and supports the alignment of AFNA to common standards and practices. The role contributes to the Amcor Way with a focus on Customer Focus, Commercial Excellence, and Innovation by driving growth through new products, penetrating existing accounts, creating clear value propositions, and furthering customer engagement via robust value propositions and engagement plans.
Responsibilities
- Act as a safety leader and prioritize safety in all responsibilities, fostering an environment where safety is everyone’s priority.
- Serve as a commercial Business Partner for the central S&M team and associated functions.
- Influence and challenge leadership to maximize performance through key partnerships.
- Lead delivery against key strategic plan targets and deliverables.
- Analyze and interpret SKU and account-level financial results to identify trends, activities driving results, and recommend improvements.
- Advance and support business growth of the GKA team with actionable data, target identification, and analysis (reports, metrics, deep dives).
- Provide clarity and drive success against identified growth targets, including analytical support for strategy and business proposals.
- Deliver clear, customer-oriented value propositions for select S&M accounts with documented messaging and communication matrices.
- Support the delivery of product-level value propositions that contribute to winning key growth targets.
- Participate in bid preparation sessions to improve success rates.
- Serve as a PMDB subject matter expert and plant profit liaison for respective accounts.
- Engage customers at a technical level to explain solutions and product options.
- Participate in pre-RFP, account strategy, and targeting to enable positive outcomes.
- Work cross-functionally and in a matrix to ensure alignment in setting and monitoring progress against key investments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Capable of operating independently across multiple geographies.
- Frequent interaction across business units, departments, and regions.
- 5+ years of experience in the packaging industry (flexible packaging preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial or related position (Marketing or Sales preferred).
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience analyzing P&L results and using financial data to support business decisions.
- Experience partnering with or supporting large Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) organizations.
- Ability to travel domestically ~25% of the time.
