Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Review architectural plans and engineering drawings to fully understand project scope and requirements
  • Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers to gather pricing and clarify specifications
  • Support proposal preparation, including participation in client presentations as needed
  • Maintain and update a directory of suppliers, subcontractors, and pricing data
  • Track construction materials, trends, and cost changes to ensure accurate estimating
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to perform cost analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Maintain records of estimated versus actual project costs for benchmarking and continuous improvement
  • Assist with contract negotiations to ensure projects align with budget and scope expectations
  • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project execution and outcomes

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, Excel, DocuSketch, and CompanyCam
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating commercial construction projects
  • Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Experience collaborating with project management and field teams

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to visit job sites and navigate active construction environments as needed

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based with occasional travel to job sites for site walks, project assessments, and client meetings. Work schedules may vary depending on project deadlines and bid timelines.

Pay

$100,000 – $115,000 annually. This is a bonus eligible position. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
