Commercial Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position is responsible for overseeing the building department services including plan review, inspection, and code enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the plan review process for all building permits
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
• Enforce local building codes and regulations
• Review and approve construction plans and specifications
• Respond to inquiries from applicants and stakeholders regarding building permits and inspections
• Prepare reports and documentation related to building permit applications and inspections
• Participate in public meetings and provide expert testimony on building-related issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection and code enforcement
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit software systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of construction materials and techniques

Pay
