Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field and a minimum of six years of direct experience in business/commercial credit analysis.
- Must have strong financial and credit analysis skills as well as a detailed understanding of business credit documentation and business collateral documents.
- Must have experience or be able to gain proficiency in all programs and systems used for this job including systems related to deposit and loan products.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently as a valuable team member in a dynamic environment.
- Must have the ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
- Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position.
Principal Accountabilities
Relationship Management
- Under limited supervision, manage a portfolio primarily comprised of CRE relationships.
- Work with members to retain and potentially grow relationships, while working collaboratively with internal partners to cross sell bank products and services.
- Provide financial advice and counsel to members and prospective members.
- Manages assigned portfolio by facilitating annual reviews, loan renewals, and new requests of existing portfolio members.
- Completes all sections of the appropriate credit analysis and risk rating package so that the loan request and structure, collateral analysis, borrower background, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, loan policy compliance, future financial statement requirements, strengths and weaknesses and conditions to close are detailed in such a manner that a loan decision can be made.
- Make presentations on specific loans and participate in the loan approval process.
- Reviews loan documentation prior to closings to ensure appropriate documentation is provided accurately.
- Provide assistance as required to the Processing and/or Underwriting areas in order to ensure a quality loan decision.
- Prepare for and attend Commercial Loan Committee meetings and assist in closings, as needed.
- Executes loan closings with existing portfolio members.
Underwriting
- Underwrites annual reviews, renewal of existing loans, and new loan requests.
- Completes all sections of the appropriate credit analysis and risk rating package so that the loan request and structure, collateral analysis, borrower background, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, loan policy compliance, future financial statement requirements, strengths and weaknesses and conditions to close are detailed in such a manner that a loan decision can be made.
- Provides feedback to Commercial Loan Officers and supervisory staff regarding concerns with any aspects of loans underwritten.
- Recommends and models appropriate loan structure for new and existing loan relationships.
- May be asked to contact business clients, accountants, attorneys or other necessary professionals to clarify questions related to the preparation of the credit analysis package.
- When appropriate, attends commercial loan appointments with Commercial Loan Officers to be part of the profiling process.
- Requests and analyzes all necessary collateral documents and takes a proactive approach in resolving any issues.
- Requests necessary financial statements for the completion of annual reviews.
- Analyzes and studies the trends to determine the appropriate risk rating.
- Makes recommendations on risk rating changes.
- May be asked to attend Commercial Loan Committee meetings to present credit analysis information and/or other information relative to this position.
- Performs loan audit review work as assigned.
