About the Role

The Commercial Banking Regional Team Leader is responsible for ensuring their assigned team achieves its financial and credit quality goals. This role leads sales teams consisting of geographically situated Commercial Bankers, Portfolio Administrators, and Deposit Specialists, and collaborates closely with Credit Administration teammates to drive success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the sales team to achieve deposit and loan growth objectives through structured sales processes, internal partnerships, and individual production contributions.
  • Oversee staffing and talent management, including recruiting, hiring, training, onboarding, and coaching Commercial Bankers.
  • Maintain an active recruiting pipeline and database of Commercial Bankers in the marketplace.
  • Implement and inspect a structured sales process by:
    • Leading weekly sales meetings.
    • Hosting regular one-on-one meetings.
    • Inspecting pre-call plan meetings.
    • Attending joint calls.
    • Coaching opportunities with the sales team.
    • Maintaining a team top hundred targeted prospect list.
  • Ensure full implementation and utilization of the Bank’s contact management and sales tracking systems.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of the team’s geographic territory and hold leadership positions in key community organizations.
  • Assume an internal leadership role within the Bank’s geography and mentor junior associates across divisions.
  • Host quarterly in-market events for top prospects and clients, often featuring keynote speakers and Bank executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Wholesale team (Corporate and CRE Bankers) and Small Business Relationship Managers to leverage joint centers of influence (COIs).
  • Serve as the primary pre-screen qualifier for all Credit Center submissions, ensuring custom channel credit submissions are reviewed with the Division Manager Director.
  • Oversee the credit quality of the team’s portfolio, including annual reviews, renewals, delinquencies, covenant compliance, and timely payment collection.
  • Manage and maintain the team’s credit and deposit opportunity pipeline, weekly call reports, and top 100 prospect list per banker.
  • Hold the team accountable for weekly, monthly, and quarterly credit and deposit production commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with bank and credit policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • Implement and adhere to BRIDGES service standards.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance department, division, and Bank operations.
  • Consult with Commercial Bankers on credit matters, collaborating with underwriting and credit partners to manage viable new business opportunities.
  • Meet regularly with Market Presidents and Sales & Service Managers to develop and implement tactics for achieving goals and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Monitor and supervise employee attendance and expenses.
  • Make pricing decisions within bank guidance.
  • Assist in the development of campaigns and promotions.
  • Adhere to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including anti-money laundering (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act).
  • Comply with Bank policies and procedures, complete required training, and report suspicious activity.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise function, projects, or services, including one or more employees.
  • Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, coaching, rewarding, disciplining, and addressing complaints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
  • 7–9 years of experience as a Business Banker or Commercial Lender required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Real Estate Agent preferred.
  • Notary License preferred.

Skills

  • Formal credit training or equivalent on-the-job training.
