Commercial Banking Emerging Middle Market Segment Strategy Leader
About the role
The Emerging Middle Market (EMM) Segment Strategy Leader will serve as the EMM segment expert and strategic advisor for Commercial Banking, reporting to the National Sales Leader and the Leaders of the Coverage and Credit Products businesses. This leader is responsible for building and implementing EMM segment sales strategies to drive new strategic client acquisition, increase market share, deepen relationships across all products, and sustain profitable growth. The role leads the execution of approved EMM strategies to enhance business productivity, promote growth programs, improve client acquisition and deepening techniques, and identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness. The individual will also have primary accountability for EMM-specific product enhancement and delivery, foster a high-performing sales culture for the segment, and align resources, training, and support in coordination with Sales Enablement.
Responsibilities
- Build and implement EMM segment sales and product strategies based on market and industry trends to inform the Commercial Banking Business Plan for coverage and product businesses.
- Own the Commercial Banking go-to-market strategy for EMM, responsible for executing EMM growth strategies, improving market share, delivering the full product suite, and reinforcing a continuous-improvement sales culture.
- Serve as the accountable executive for EMM-specific product and service offerings and coordinate with Product Management Executives in Commercial Banking and critical partners including GPL, CIB—Rates and FX, WIM, and CSBB.
- Assist in identifying growth goals for the segment, including wallet and penetration objectives, sales and key performance indicators for Commercial Banking and sales teams.
- Utilize data analysis to forecast sales trends, identify potential opportunities, and develop market-specific strategies.
- Align the sales strategy plan with marketing initiatives and ensure consistent delivery across Commercial Banking.
- Partner with sales and business leaders to ensure coverage and credit product teams aligned to the EMM segment drive an appropriate level of new client acquisition across Commercial Banking.
- Support and drive consistency in setting performance expectations, measuring performance, and identifying training needs and resources for the sales force.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of sales strategies and adjust as needed.
- Continuously strengthen risk and control infrastructure around sales procedures, policies, activities, and product placement; identify and mitigate risk, contribute to improving controls, and participate in issues management when necessary.
Requirements
- 10+ years of Business Growth Strategy experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of Commercial Banking’s client segments, its products, industries, and clients.
- Executive presence and the ability to drive outcomes through influence at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated strategic vision with the ability to lead execution across multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to operate in a highly matrixed and global environment with multiple and senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Pay
The base pay range for this position is $215,000.00 – $355,000.00. Pay may vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
