COMBINED TRADES SUPERVISOR II

About the Role

You will serve as the final on-site authority for resolving the most complex technical problems and integration conflicts at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. This role involves second-level, delegated authority for all personnel and administrative functions, ensuring consistent application of safety, health, and environmental regulations. You will provide authoritative technical advice to engineering and project management on the feasibility and execution of proposed work.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex technical problems and integration conflicts.
• Serve as second-level authority for personnel and administrative functions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical advice to engineering and project management teams.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinate supervisors.
• Develop and execute short- and long-range work plans.
• Determine resources, materials, equipment, and skilled personnel required to accomplish work.
• Apply knowledge of technical, nuclear, quality, and safety programs and requirements.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Appointment of retired military members within 180 days of retirement to a civilian position is subject to provisions of 5 U.S.C. 3326.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• This position is subject to working an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay may be required.
• May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites. Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
• Work is performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals). Participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
• Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously during work shifts.
• Supervisors must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must demonstrate through experience and training that you possess the necessary knowledge and skills. Emphasis is on the quality of experience rather than its duration. Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your ability to perform the following:
