Combination Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans and ensure they comply with local building codes and regulations.
• Inspect buildings during various stages of construction to ensure adherence to approved plans and safety standards.
• Issue permits and maintain accurate records of all issued permits.
• Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building code violations.
• Conduct inspections of existing structures to ensure ongoing compliance with building codes.
• Participate in code enforcement activities and provide technical assistance to developers and contractors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in building inspection or related field.
• Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Experience with computer software such as AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
