Combination Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Official to oversee all aspects of building department services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction codes, zoning regulations, and building inspections.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plans according to local building codes and regulations
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
• Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure compliance with community planning and zoning policies
• Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building and zoning issues
• Prepare and maintain records of all building permits issued
• Participate in public meetings and provide expert testimony on building and zoning matters

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection and code enforcement
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and record keeping
• Knowledge of zoning laws and land use regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
