Combat Systems Radar Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Combat Systems Radar Engineer to join our team in Dahlgren, VA, supporting a US Navy Program with extensive Combat System Integration expertise.
About the role
This full-time, on-site position involves contributing technical expertise to ensure the seamless integration of radar systems into US Navy ships, including non-AEGIS ships such as amphibious submersibles and Aircraft Carriers. The role supports the nation's warfighter through overhaul and modernization efforts in a professional and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate as part of a team of engineers, technicians, and support personnel to provide ship integration services addressing the physical design, installation, test, and maintenance of USN Combat Systems.
- Perform technical reviews of planned ship upgrades, coordinate Ship Integration Liaison Action Records (LARs), and provide written comments on potential system and ship integration/installation issues/impacts.
- Generate and perform technical reviews of integration/engineering Ship Change Documents (SCDs).
- Review Combat System changes to identify possible conjunctive alteration impacts with other ship systems.
- Participate in assessment events related to integration and testing of ship systems.
- Conduct ship checks to document existing compartment arrangements and system configurations.
- Participate in program reviews, phone conferences, working groups, and other meetings as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience as either a Fire Control Technician (FC) or Electronic Technician (ET) or 5 years’ experience in the field of ship design or integration.
- Familiarization with Combat System block wiring and line diagrams.
- Specific experience in one or more of the following areas: Command and Control (C2), Electronic Warfare (EW), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), or Exterior Communication Systems (Excoms).
- Must be eligible to obtain a US security clearance, with a current Secret Clearance being a plus.
Skills
- Experience with Ship Installation Drawings, Technical Reviews, and Ship Change Documents.
- Knowledge of Navy Radars, with SPY6 preferred.
- Familiarity with US Navy Ship Specification documents.
- Specific experience in one or more of the following: AN/SPS-73(V)18 NGSSR, SPQ-9B, EASR AN/SPY-6(V), INTERROGATOR SET AN/UPX-45(C) IFF, AutoCAD, and troubleshooting.
- Recent and verifiable experience supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) ship integration efforts is preferred.
- A US passport is a plus for potential travel, which may be required up to 10%.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
