Colorist - 3rd Shift

Brief Description

The Colorist is responsible for monitoring and correcting production color utilizing existing formulas and spectrophotometer software. Work Schedule: 3rd shift 11pm to 7am with a Sunday night start. Potential for overtime including weekends, Saturday and or Sunday. Employees are assigned to an A/B rotating weekend schedule. Training will take place on 1st shift, 7am to 3pm.

Responsibilities

• Formulate new color formulations for plastic materials that meet the customer's specification
• Maintain a clean working environment
• Operate twin and single screw extruders, and injection molding machines to create color chips
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace
• Monitor production color and make corrections to improve likeness to customer specifications
• Maintain color process and correct lab color samples utilizing existing samples
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
• Excellent attention to detail required
• Must be able to operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production
• Read and follow manuals and procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace
• Possess a positive attitude
• Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed, up to every other weekend
• Willing and able to work in temperature extremes – hot and cold
• Must be able to pass a forklift test and a respirator fit test
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
• Passing score on the RTP Company Color Test
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• This position must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. regularly and stand for an 8-hour shift
• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents
• Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
• Employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
