Color Mix Specialists

About the role

Hood Distribution, established in 1899, is a wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber & plywood as well as related specialty products. With twenty-three locations serving the eastern US and Caribbean markets, the company seeks a Paint Color Mix Specialist for its Northern, IN location. The primary objective is to complete and ship custom color match requests and standard color requests within two business days.

Responsibilities

• Tinting and matching paints and stain colors
• Maintain and record accurate and appropriate records from customer orders, custom mixes, and colors
• Create presentation samples for customers
• Provide technical support on different finishing products and applications
• Participate in demonstrations and assist in sales
• Work with inside sales team to provide solutions to customer needs
• Ensure all completed custom mixes are properly and visibly labeled
• Maintain a clean work environment by adhering to daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Prior knowledge in paints, stains, solvents, wood species, and spray equipment
• Proven skill in color matching and spraying technique
• Good eye for color (must be able to pass a color-blind test)
• Ability to use and understand technology, e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems
• Good attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to lift 50‑75 lbs
• Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to change
• Minimum education: High School Diploma

Pay

Pay rate: $23.00‑$25.00 per hour
