Color Blender Specialist
About the role
This full-time position works closely with commercial paint customers to determine their needs, answer questions about Sherwin-Williams products, recommend solutions, prepare customer orders (including blending initial batches and making shade adjustments), and promptly resolve concerns to ensure maximum client satisfaction. The role also involves staying up-to-date with product features and maintaining high quality and visual standards. You will work at Store #2997, located at 5301 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27616.
Duties involve contact with customers (including minors), handling cash and payments, accessing electronic equipment and personal information, and managing store merchandise. A criminal history review is required to protect the business, its operations, reputation, and the safety of customers, staff, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Prepare customer orders, including blending initial batches, making shade adjustments, filling, and labeling.
- Make shade and gloss adjustments to meet customer requirements.
- Prepare spray-out and draw-down test panels.
- Expense mistints daily.
- Establish and maintain accurate customer work order files and formulas.
- Ensure customers' quality and service expectations are met.
- Clean and repair store equipment; identify equipment problems and make recommendations.
- Operate material handling, tinting, mixing, and testing equipment safely.
- Properly store partial containers in correct inventory locations.
- Provide input on inventory levels in the warehouse/stockroom.
- Identify potential obsolete/damaged material and handle per established policy.
- Maintain daily clean-up of lab, product service room, and equipment.
- Maintain facility to Sherwin-Williams standards through proper maintenance, repair, and housekeeping.
- Identify facility problems and make recommendations.
- Follow loss prevention, security, and safety practices; correct or report non-compliance.
- Take immediate action to contain spills using hazardous material containment procedures; handle, store, label, clean up spills, dispose of, and file paperwork for hazardous materials/waste.
- Assist with general warehouse, delivery, and customer service duties as needed (e.g., loading/unloading material, assisting customers).
- Operate POS for all types of transactions.
- Know stock limits and be familiar with stock order procedures.
- Assist with physical inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for an employment work visa now or in the future.
- Able to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing to work all scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- If internal to Sherwin-Williams, must have received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on the most recent performance appraisal and completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
- At least one (1) year of experience in delivery, retail, or customer service.
- Previous work experience selling paint and paint-related products.
- Previous experience operating tinting and mixing equipment.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language (e.g., Spanish).
