About the role

The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) at City Colleges of Chicago offers subsidized part-time employment for eligible students to assist with their postsecondary financial needs. This program supports students in various roles within the athletics department, including game day management, social media creation, scorekeeping, and timekeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Game Day Manager: Assist with staffing and recruitment of game day operations support roles, coordinate and confirm gameday staff, produce gameday outlines and PA scripts.
  • Social Media Contact Creator: Develop a social media marketing plan, create and post new content, connect with the community, and analyze social media marketing campaigns.
  • Scorekeeper: Keep an accurate score during sporting events, keep accurate statistics about players, and work with game officials to ensure a fair contest.
  • Book Keeper: Manage the statistics recorded during the game in real time, ensuring effective communication with the score keeper and officials.
  • Timekeeper: Operate the time clock, show the game score on a flip chart or electronic score clock, and maintain proper decorum.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older and have work permit consent.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit semester hours.
  • Must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
  • Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students).
  • Must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.
  • Must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases needed.

Benefits

This position is “employment at-will.”

Pay

The salary range is $17.00 or $19.00/hr, offered rate will be determined based on whether assigned location is on campus or off campus.
