Key Responsibilities
- Aid students in identifying the right program and courses that align with their goals.
- Provide comprehensive reviews of program/course requirements and answer student inquiries.
- Communicate regularly with students throughout their academic journey, guiding course selection and registration.
- Monitor student progress and offer resources to overcome challenges.
- Outline possible options for transfer and workforce placement.
- Coach students to explore alternatives and overcome barriers to persistence or graduation.
- Train students to use self-service tools provided by the institution.
- Implement advising strategies that help students achieve their educational and career goals.
- Document all interactions in the appropriate institutional systems using the Student Management system.
- Analyze student data to identify triggers for proactive outreach.
- Made appropriate resource referrals when necessary and document through the Student Management system.
- Engage students through various communication channels such as video advising, student calls, and proactive outreach.
- Collaborate with other departments and functional areas to deliver an optimal student experience from inquiry through to graduation.
- Work with financial aid to confirm an accurate financial plan by establishing timeframes to complete the application process.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all academic, registration, programs, policies, and procedures, including institutional policies and federal and state regulations.
- Identify opportunities and solutions to improve current methods and actively participate in organizational improvements.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in any field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities in communication and listening, project management, customer service, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Banner, learning management systems, academic program sequencing, and familiarity with federal and state regulations.
