College Intern - Software Engineering - Fall 2026 (Multiple Openings)

Fall 2026 Internship – The Fall College Internship Program is a paid co-op/internship experience for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns work on meaningful projects, receive mentorship, attend development workshops, and network within the company. Opportunities are available in Information Technology, Business Administration, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other technical or non-technical degree programs. Housing is not provided.

About the role

The Software Engineering Intern will join the Application Development team, contributing to the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise software solutions that support digital transformation and business objectives. This role involves hands-on experience with modern software engineering practices, including data entry processes, and supports key strategic projects under mentor guidance. Responsibilities vary based on business needs and the intern’s qualifications, covering both technical and non-technical projects. Interns will create and deliver a presentation at the completion of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise software solutions.
• Support application modernization, automation, and operational excellence strategies.
• Work with a mentor on key strategic projects.
• Perform tasks that vary according to business need and departmental opportunities.
• Create and deliver a presentation at the completion of the internship.
• Maintain high standards of integrity and adhere to corporate values and policies.
• Uphold member privacy in accordance with corporate privacy policies.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma with proof of continuous college enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Good academic standing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and deliver high-quality work.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to establish good working relationships with peers.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain strong attention to detail.
• Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and on intra- and inter-departmental teams.

Qualifications

• Desired majors: Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar degree program.
• Preferred skills or experience with: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, and/or Azure.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, using a computer and keyboard for three or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.

Pay

Compensation ranges:

• Level I: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
• Level II: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour

Actual salary will vary based on factors such as budget, prior experience, knowledge, skills, education, and internal equity.
