College Counselor (CNSLNG PSYCHOLOGIST 3 HX)

Under the direction of the Counseling Services (CS) Director of Academic Satellites at Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS), this position provides professional patient/client care for primarily students enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES).

Responsibilities

• Perform individual, partner, group, crisis intervention, and case management services.
• Consult with faculty and staff on issues relevant to student educational performance and emotional well-being.
• Coordinate mental health and wellness services and programming with CAES.
• Provide campus programs on education, multicultural concerns, and prevention.
• May provide supervision and training to Counseling Services trainees in an APA-accredited internship and APPIC-member postdoctoral program.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Comply with professional requirements of SHCS, UC Davis policies and procedures, and all State and Federal legal requirements.

Responsibilities are allocated as follows:

• 50% - Direct Service to Students
• 30% - Prevention, Consultation, Education, Training
• 20% - Administrative Duties

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• California Licensed Psychologist (PSYCH) or license-eligible as a psychologist in California. Psychologists (e.g., Psy.D., Ph.D.) governed by California Board of Psychology must possess a valid license. Psychologist applicants possessing a valid license in another state must obtain California licensure within 180 days after submitting an application or from the date of commencement of residency in California, whichever comes first. Applicants who are not licensed but are license-eligible must have passed the EPPP by the time of application and must obtain a California Board of Psychology valid license within 30 days of job offer.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Experience working with individuals from diverse social, cultural, or socio-cultural backgrounds.
• Experience treating diverse clients using short-term models of individual and group psychotherapy/counseling.
• Experience assessing and intervening when individuals present in crisis.
• Experience establishing professional work relationships.
• Experience providing outreach programs to diverse groups.
• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment interventions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a university counseling service with a strong student service orientation.
• Experience working with historically underrepresented or under-served student communities at a major research university.
• Ability to provide supervision to predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees.
• Knowledge of ethical, legal, and university standards and regulations.

About the Department

Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education, and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year and is accredited by AAAHC, IACS, and APA. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness.

SHCS mental health staff include licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, masters therapists, and pre-and post-doctoral trainees, dedicated to providing student-centered mental health services, advocacy, outreach, and consultation to promote psychological well-being and academic success. Counseling services are offered at no cost to registered students.

Pay

Salary range: $125,699.06 - $183,081.03 annually.

Schedule

• 11-month partial-year career position, subject to 1 month furlough and reduced time during quarter breaks.
• Full-time (100%) with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM.
• Hybrid (mix of on-site and remote work).
