About the Role
Under the direction of the Vice Principal, perform varied technical duties related to the operation and maintenance of a student career center at an assigned school site. Provide information and assistance to students concerning college, vocational, and career opportunities utilizing career center resources, and perform related clerical duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform varied technical duties related to the operation and maintenance of a student career center; motivate and encourage students concerning career options; refer students to counselors or appropriate personnel as needed.
- Provide information and assistance to students concerning college, vocational, and career opportunities; assess student abilities, qualifications, interests, and backgrounds to advise on career opportunities.
- Assist students in researching college and vocational information, scholarships, grants, and loans; help with completing forms and applications.
- Conduct career center orientations for students and staff; lead workshops and presentations on career development and employability skills; schedule speakers to discuss career opportunities.
- Update career center information; compile and verify student information; assist students with operating career center computer systems and software.
- Process and provide students with work permit applications; review academic and attendance records to ensure eligibility; type work permits and compile required signatures.
- Perform clerical duties such as composing letters, ordering materials, duplicating documents, and typing and processing forms and applications.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports related to student work permits, grades, attendance, and assigned activities; establish and maintain filing systems.
- Communicate with counselors, teachers, parents, outside agencies, and others to exchange information, coordinate activities, and resolve issues related to student careers.
- Operate office equipment including calculators, copiers, typewriters, computers, and assigned software.
- Assist in coordinating and participating in job fairs, workshops, and other special events.
- Attend assigned meetings, committees, and conferences.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Prepare and deliver oral presentations.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Maintain records and compile data to prepare reports.
- Operate a computer and assigned software.
- Type 35 words per minute from clear copy.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Meet schedules and timelines; plan and organize work.
Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of clerical experience involving frequent public contact.
Work Environment
