General Duties

Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records, operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards, act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required. Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials. Acts as cashier. Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports. Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals. Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment. Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules. Operates computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks.

  • The Ph.D. Program in History is seeking a College Assistant to provide administrative support to the Assistant Program Officer (APO) and the Executive Officer (EO) of the Program.
  • This is a part-time role for 797 hours per year, approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:
    • Assist in the improvement of alumni outreach and relations
    • Co-ordinate admissions data
    • Maintain the program’s social media presence
    • Assist the APO in processing documents for purchases and payments/reimbursement
    • Perform standard office work including filing, answering phones and ordering supplies
    • Handle AV, catering, and facilities requests, along with other special event help
    • Be available to assist students and faculty on in-person office days
    • Maintain address information for all students and faculty members within the History program
    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the APO, EO or DEO

Compensation

$22.28 per hour
