About the role

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. The College and Career Instructor is responsible for designing and delivering instruction that prepares students for postsecondary pathways, including college, technical training, military service, and direct entry into the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Teach college and career readiness courses.
  • Facilitate workshops on topics such as applications, financial aid, resumes, and interviewing skills.
  • Guide students through individualized planning for their postsecondary goals.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and families to support students’ readiness.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to school events focused on college and career readiness.
  • Support a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field; teaching certification or relevant licensure preferred.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in middle or high school settings, preferably with diverse student populations.
  • Experience in curriculum development and education planning for college and career readiness or related subjects.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to students, families, and colleagues.
  • Training and facilitation skills for workshops, small-group sessions, and one-on-one student coaching.
  • Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, career pathways, and postsecondary options.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families and to work collaboratively in a team-based school environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, data-tracking abilities, and proficiency with standard office and educational technology tools.
