About the role
The College & Career Empowerment (CCE) Champion will help strengthen and support Grow Public Schools’ college and career readiness and empowerment initiatives for the 2026–2027 school year by building alignment across campuses, middle school grade levels, and existing student opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Build on the foundation for a sustainable college and career readiness system at Grow Public Schools throughout the 2026-2027 school year.
- Collaborate on a scope and sequence for implementing pre-built tangible career skill exploration activities within Arvin and Shafter’s weekly College & Career blocks.
- Align these lessons to local high school pathways and California’s 12 Career Ready standards.
- Champion connections to existing college and career empowerment initiatives.
- Create a standards-aligned scope and sequence that organizes the career exploration activities above into a cohesive yearlong plan that accounts for curriculum sharing across two-sites, two-grade levels, and two differing college and career blocks.
- Leverage existing assignments in Xello, and other reflection tools, assessments, and planning resources to help students identify career interests, reflect on their strengths and skills, and connect their learning to future academic and career options.
- Support a 7th & 8th grade culminating project or plan that helps students identify career interests, preferred pathways, and areas for continued exploration.
- Serve as a site-based champion for college and career empowerment, helping build a stronger college and career readiness culture and connecting learning beyond the College & Career block, including Xello implementation, work-based learning opportunities, ELOP or intersession enrichment, STEM Night participation, career fairs, guest speakers, and other aligned exposure activities.
- Collaborate with Home Office and School Leadership, School Counselors, College & Career Success Coaches, and CSUB College Corps Fellows to align student coaching, pathway planning, and the college and career block.
- Participate in quarterly progress meetings to review implementation, troubleshoot barriers, and leverage learning across both school sites, and recommend improvements to the curriculum and program model.
- Participate in selected professional development related to CTE implementation or pathway planning such as the annual KCSOS CTE Conference/Summit.

- Collaborate with Home Office and School Leadership, other CCE Champion Teachers, site counselors, -College & Career Success Coaches, and CSUB College Corps Fellows to bring alignment to GPS College & Career Empowerment.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit to grow a program through ambiguity.
- Previous experience leading or developing college and career related activities for middle school students.
- Be a current Grow Public Schools 7th or 8th grade teacher.
