About the role
As a Collector, you'll connect with consumers and help them find solutions to get back on track with their student loans. Using your excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you'll negotiate payment arrangements, provide guidance, and perform skip tracing to locate individuals, all while ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with account holders regarding the repayment of their defaulted student loan.
- Profile borrowers and obtain financial information.
- Update demographic and financial information on each call.
- Negotiate payment arrangements.
- Refer accounts for legal if applicable.
- Perform Skip Tracing.
- Use skip-tracing tools.
- Effectively communicate with third parties.
- Ensure all accounts are worked within client standards and Federal Regulations.
- Maintain clear, concise, and accurate documentation of all attempts and/or contacts made and received for accounts in accordance with company specifications.
- Maintain continuing education, training in industry career development.
- Maintain current knowledge of and comply with all federal and state rules and regulations governing collections including FDCPA, Privacy Act, FCRA, etc.
- Attend training sessions.
- Integrate information obtained through training sessions and policy changes immediately into daily routine.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma/ GED/ equivalent.
- Progressive work experience.
- 3rd party collection environment preferred.
- PC experience in a windows environment.
- Basic keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous sales or customer service experience.
- ACA certification.
- Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
Pay
Starting Pay: $16.00/hour. Higher starting rate may be considered based on relevant experience, education, skills, and qualifications.
Schedule
- Training Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
- Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday; 3 days 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 2 days 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
