Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Recommend process improvements for collections activities.
  • Aid in the documentation and implementation of such improvements.
  • Perform daily collection activities on customer accounts (calls, emails, and letters).
  • Collaborate with Credit & Collections team on projects aimed at improving processes to better serve internal business units.
  • Provide specific updates on past due accounts to sales and management.
  • Initiate contact and interact with customers on past due residential and commercial accounts.
  • Place outgoing collections calls professionally.
  • Document correspondence and contacts with credit customers.
  • Print aging weekly reports for assigned divisions as needed.
  • Prepare, mail, and send follow-up correspondence for all past-due accounts, advising customers of potential for halted deliveries, lock-outs, and equipment disconnects.
  • Refer and follow up on all customer inquiries that are not credit-related to the appropriate department.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • One year of experience in Collections or a similar financial role is strongly preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and hands-on computer proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of the A/R function, including the ability to apply good judgment and professional integrity in decision-making.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with customers in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency in completing detailed credit and rebill paperwork with accuracy.
  • Understanding of basic principles of accounting, including debit and credits.
  • Good math aptitude and the ability to work accurately with numbers.
  • Bilingual speaking proficiency in Spanish/English is a must.
  • The ability to work Monday through Friday with occasional overtime as needed based upon business operations.
