About the Role
The Collections Assistant works with borrowers to collect debts owed to Alpine Bank in a variety of streams.
Responsibilities
- Collect on Consumer Loans, Credit Cards, Ready Reserve Lines of Credit, and Demand Deposit Accounts (DDAs).
- Process garnishments and levies, summons and subpoenas, and domestic collections.
- Maintain the Overdraft Privilege product, including compliance with Regulation E, ensuring correct account coding, and completing maintenance.
- Serve as point of contact for customers: making and answering phone calls, preparing and mailing letters, inputting notes and messages on accounts, and researching credit disputes.
- Process legal notices by researching and gathering requested documents and responding accordingly.
- Verify information and send requested funds via check or wire transfer for domestic collections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver’s License is required.
- Experience in collections and/or bookkeeping is preferred.
- Bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
Skills
- Ability to prioritize customers and their needs, developing and sustaining productive customer relationships.
- Strong detail orientation and multi-tasking skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be a self-starter, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Silverlake is helpful.
Working Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Some travel for training could be expected.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which may involve reaching, lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.
Pay
Starting rate of pay is from $17.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
