About the role
Under general supervision of the Sewer Collection Supervisor, this position requires several decisions to be made daily, using some interpretation and judgment, with no responsibilities for reports, records, or supervisory duties.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and maintains lift stations, manholes, and sewer collection lines
- Ensures all equipment is in good operating condition
- Installs or repairs sewer lines, manholes, pumps, and related accessories
- Assists in the repair of equipment at the water/wastewater plant
- Responds and assists at work sites with proper equipment
- Assists in lifting 100-150lbs occasionally (pumps, pipes, valves, suction hoses, concrete bags)
- Works with power tools (e.g. drill, weed eaters, chainsaws, etc.)
- Requires working with deodorant or related lift station chemicals
- Ensures the city vehicle is in good condition and reports damages to any city facilities
- May perform other duties as assigned for different events (e.g. parades or city events)
- Works in a variety of weather conditions
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in wastewater utility operations or a related field
- T.C.E.Q. License Class "D" Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or Class "I" collection system operator, Class II Collection System Operator, or Class "C" Wastewater Operator
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Some unusual working hours, irregular hours, or shifts, may involve occasional travel. Position is subject to 24-hour emergency callbacks. The physical demands include exposure to hazards that might result in serious injury and may work under extreme outdoor conditions. Continuous lifting of heavy materials, constant physical movement; demands physical strength associated with hard labor.

Hourly $14.98
