About the Opportunity

The Collections Specialist role is responsible for managing delinquent accounts by engaging with customers to identify payment issues and coordinate repayment plans that restore accounts to good standing or prevent default. The position plays a critical role in maintaining the health of the organization's loan portfolio by resolving payment delinquencies and, when necessary, coordinating with third-party agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Contact delinquent customers via phone, email, and text
  • Address customer inquiries related to account status, invoicing, and payments
  • Proactively resolve payment defaults
  • Document communications and follow-ups
  • Secure commitments to pay from customers
  • Perform skip tracing as needed
  • Investigate and resolve early payment defaults
  • Reconcile cash applications with customer accounts
  • Process customer buy-out requests
  • Manage a minimum of fifty accounts daily, making 50 to 100+ calls per company policy
  • Negotiate and implement payment plans according to department guidelines
  • Review accounts with management for hardship considerations and adjustments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; associate degree or equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum of 5 years collections experience, ideally in commercial or consumer lending, with MCA and loan products preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Resourceful problem solver with ability to gather and analyze client information
  • Investigative mindset to assess customer situations logically
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with proper grammar usage
  • Flexibility to adapt to procedural changes
  • Team-oriented with capability to collaborate across departments
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet; experience with hotkeys; HubSpot knowledge is a plus
