About the role

The Collaboration Coordinator West will foster collaboration and advocate for Family Voice & Choice in partnership with other service delivery systems, State agencies, and relevant stakeholders, including the Department of Public Instruction and SAMHSA-sponsored national agencies, with a focus on the western region of NC. The role will establish a formal network or directory of family, youth, and/or young-adult led organizations across the state to facilitate collaboration and coordination. This position is critical to supporting local and state collaboratives while upholding System of Care (SOC) values and principles.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with local and State SOC Collaboratives in the western portion of North Carolina.
  • Promotes and advocates for Family Voice and Choice at all levels of services, systems, and policies in North Carolina.
  • Attends and participates in local, state, and/or national meetings and conferences to provide information and gather feedback on service and system planning.
  • Works with various State agencies and other agencies to promote SOC values and practices.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with SAMHSA-sponsored national agencies who have similar missions at the national level.
  • Establishes and maintains a formal network or directory of family, youth, and/or young adult-led organizations or roles across North Carolina.
  • Develops plans for leveraging this network to facilitate future collaborations and coordination activities.
  • Identifies and links families to partners across the state to address identified needs.
  • Develops peer support networks and leadership/advocacy skills among families.
  • Links families with state networks representing adult and youth mental health consumers.
  • Develops and updates content monthly for dissemination via program website, electronic newsletters, and integration with key federal, state, and local partners (e.g., SAMHSA, NC DMH/DD/SAS, System of Care Collaborative).
  • Provides technical assistance related to inquiries through the 1-800 program number.
  • Collaborates with the Principal Investigator to develop a statewide needs assessment, conduct stakeholder interviews and focus groups, and translate data into program goals and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or background in independent academic/instructional activities, a relevant undergraduate degree and 3+ years of relevant experience may substitute.
  • Lived experience related to personal and/or caregiving/family experience with a Serious Emotional Disturbance for at least 12 months.
  • Experience working in a paid or unpaid Youth/Family Peer Specialist, Navigator, Partner, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, organization, and cross-agency collaboration and coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Family Peer Specialist.
  • Experience working in a leadership role related to Youth and/or Family Peer Support and/or Education.
  • Applicants living in the western part of NC.

Schedule

Full-time, 12-month permanent position (1.0 FTE).
